A quaint museum with plenty of parking. Most of the exhibition is interesting, showcasing both the history of criminal incarnation and how media attitudes have altered over time
There are two big negatives. The first is that there are star wars, ET, Oceans Eleven and other film exhibits scattered throughout the floor space without clear delineation. The second is that the museum only accepts cash payments.
Overall, it is well worth the visit and the entrance fee.
Fascinating place. Learned quite a bit, there were definitely some displays that were uncomfortable, but then they're meant to be. Spent quite some time there, only thing is I wish there were fewer press cuttings and more spaced out exhibits. There was a lot to see and think about.
Very strange place 🤣 I mean if you like messed up history then this is place to go. Some things were interesting to read, however very gruesome photos around. Very old war / police stuff and A LOT of news articles. Hates off to whoever had collected all this stuff, as it’s a lot!
Fascinating museum to visit that has so much to see that it’s overwhelming. Perfect place for the true crime aficionados, you will not be disappointed.
My partner and I visited having seen Littledean Jail on Netflix’s ‘Dark Tourist’. Firstly, it’s much bigger than expected! We spent at least 3 hours exploring the various rooms and didn’t even get to see what the outside had in store for us. Therefore, the £10 per person fee is great value. The staff are very friendly and let us stay for an additional hour+ after they had closed, too. Be warned - it’s not for the squeamish and I wouldn’t recommend children visiting. I won’t spoil too much, but there are ISIS and cartel pictures that are very graphic. I was amazed at how much time and effort must have gone into building the collection and I would certainly go again knowing there is plenty more to discover.
Unfortunately it was closed when we arrived (our own lack of planning) but from the outside it looked wonderful, will be going back during the correct times and having a good look around ✨
The crime through time museum at little Dean jail is well worth a look if you're open minded and not easily offended! I'd say 14 plus for kids as there's some graphic stuff in there and under 14s might find it boring . Nice owner who advises you of all this anyway on the door. It's a CRIME THROUGH TIME MUSEUM, so there are some grim, graphic and gorey items/photos in there, depicting all sorts of crimes and events throughout history. Also some great nostalgia in there . And the Quadraphenia Exhibition. Awesome.
Great bit of a mad collection in a brilliant setting far to much to see in a day if easily shocked stay away
